Biografie Tee-Set De Delftse band TEE-SET werd op 8 juli 1966 opgericht door zanger PETER TETTEROO. Hun eerste single EARLY IN THE MORNING werd direct een hit en stond maar liefst 10 weken in de Top 40. Daarna kwamen er nog 26 grote Top 40-hits zoals DON'T YOU LEAVE, NOW'S THE TIME, TEA IS FAMOUS, en vele andere klassiekers: hun naam was gevestigd. PETER TETTEROO maakte als solozanger met name furore met de grote hit RED RED WINE. Zanger, componist en tekstschrijver PETER TETTEROO tekende voor het grootste gedeelte van de TEE-SETsongs, terwijl Hans van Eijck en Polle Eduard voor de composities verantwoordelijk waren. In 1969 kwam de grote doorbraak met de wereldhit MA BELLE AMIE, een nummer dat zelfs in Amerika een Nr.3-hit werd. Ook de single erna SHE LIKES WEEDS, had in Nederland veel sucses. Het lied stond 7 weken nr.1 in de Top 40. In Amerika kreeg SHE LIKES WEEDS geen kans. Het nummer werd niet gedraaid, omdat de Amerikanen , in plaats van naar de tekst te luisteren, meteen aan drugs dachten. IF YOU DO BELIEVE IN LOVE, dat in twee versies verscheen, werd ook in Amerika weer een stevige hit. In 1975 had de TEE-SET nog een hit met DO IT BABY. Daarna werd het stil rondom de groep, ook omdat de bandleden het steeds drukker kregen met het uitbaten van hun eigen discotheken. Het bloed kruipt waar het niet gaan kan. En dus kwam de TEE-SET in 1979 terug en wel met de kanjer LINDA LINDA, een nummer dat nog steeds bij ieder optreden de zaal in lichterlaaie zet. Toch bleek de combinatie werk en carriere te zwaar. De bandleden kozen opnieuw, voor hun zakelijke belangen. In 1988 was er weer even een opleving met HOT NIGHTS. Een geweldig nummer dat her en der goed opgepikt is, maar toch niet kreeg waar het recht op had: een stevige Top 40-hit. De laatste jaren treedt de TEE-SET weer regelmatig op. De huidige
formatie is een groot sucses. Ook PETER TETTEROO solo is niet mis. Op 9 september 2002 is zanger Peter Tetteroo helaas overleden. All linked titles can be played

Their first single, "Early in the Morning", soon became a big hit, spending 10 weeks in the Dutch Top 40 Hit Parade. 26 more hits, including "Don't You Leave", "Now's The Time", "Tea Is Famous", and many more classics, and many more years of success followed - they've really made a name for themselves in Holland and abroad. Peter Tetteroo has also become famous as a solo artist in his own right, having recorded a cover version of "Red Red Wine". Peter Tetteroo - singer, songwriter and instrumentalist, is responsible for penning a majority of the group's hits. Other authors include Hans van Eijck and Polle Edouard. In 1969, they recorded their biggest hit, which was also the band's breakthrough in the USA, a fantastic song, called "Ma Belle Amie". This song got to No.3 in the US charts. The single, "She Likes Weeds", was a big success in the Netherlands, but in the USA it couldn't stand a chance! Americans chose not to play this song on the radio just cause of the drug connotation the lyrics contained - they didn't really listen to the lyrics before eschewing it! "If You Do Believe In Love" was a wonderful song that came out in two different version, and became another big hit in the USA. Tee Set scored yet another hit with "Do It Baby" in 1975 - which turned out to be their last one, for a long while. Band members became involved with other projects… However, the demand for the group remained quite strong throughout the 70s, and so in 1979 they made a comeback with the fabulous song, "Linda Linda" - one of their best to date! But to sustain the band and keep it alive proved, once again, too much of a task for the members, so Tee Set broke apart once again shortly thereafter. 1988 saw yet another short-lived comeback and the recording of a new song, "Hot Nights" - a beautiful track, which generated some interest and attracted some attention, but not enough to keep them going - a pity. Peter Tetteroo, R.I.P. (2002) History of Tee SetTee Set was orginally founded in 1963 and started out as a rhythm and blues group. They were very succesful on the local circuit, where they appeared regularly as an amateur group, until they turned professional and started playing at one of the most famous and renowned places in Holland, Scheveningen. The year was 1966. Later that year, they recorded their first single, "Early In The Morning", written by Robby van Leeuwen who would later become famous for his worldwide mega-hit, "Venus". From that moment on, the way to stardom was wide open for Tee Set , and the media in Holland were convinced that they had just discovered a new young and exciting pop group. They did not have to wait very long for further output. In 1969, they recorded their first major worldwide hit, "Ma Belle Amie". It generated enormous sales all over the continent, as well as in the USA, Canada, South America, Australia and New Zeeland. A small summary: United States - 2 million records sold, highest position in the charts - No.3, Italy - 2 million records sold, Number One for 5 weeks, plus the Press Cup Award for the Most Promissing Group Of 1970; Germany - 895,000 copies sold, plus Bronze Lion presented by Dieter Thomas Heck of Radio Luxembourg for this single remaining in the charts over a period of more than six months; Switzerland - Number One for 7 weeks, France - Number One for 4 weeks, Holland - also a long-time Number One; not to mention a whole list of other countries such as Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Turkey and the USA. Tee Set were one of the most successfull groups of the 1960s! After that big success, they have scored another hit with "If You Do Believe In Love", and 26 other, smaller ones. Many of them were also recorded by various artists troughout the world. In 1973, the group bought themselves three large discotheques, at the place where they'd originally started out so succesfully.
